Welcome to xchar.art. By accessing or using xchar.art (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

xchar.art is a free web application that allows users to generate a personalized retro-style pixel-art character based on their X (formerly Twitter) profile picture and public follower count. The character and associated title/rank are displayed on a unique, shareable page (e.g., xchar.art/@yourhandle). The Service is provided "as is" and for entertainment purposes only.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and comply with X's Terms of Service.

3. Account and X Login

  • You log in using Sign in with X (OAuth 2.0).
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your X account.
  • We do not store your X password or any sensitive credentials.
  • You may delete your character page at any time by contacting support.

4. Acceptable Use

You are free to download, share, and use your generated character image for personal or commercial purposes.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal, harmful, or abusive purpose
  • Knowingly exploit the Service to generate illegal, obscene, or harmful material
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the Service's code or infrastructure
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Spam, harass, or abuse other users
  • Use automated scripts/bots to access the Service excessively
  • Claim or generate characters for accounts you do not own

We reserve the right to suspend or delete any character page that violates these rules.

5. User Content and Generated Material

  • The character and title displayed on your page are generated automatically from your public X profile data using AI.
  • By using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display your profile image (as provided by X) and generated character on your public page.
  • You retain all rights to your X profile image.
  • The generated character images are created using AI. You are free to download, use, modify, and distribute your generated character for any purpose, including commercial use. We make no claims of ownership or copyright over the AI-generated character images.

6. Intellectual Property

  • The Service's code, design, website assets, and logos are owned by us or our licensors.
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service's code or infrastructure without permission.
  • This does not restrict your rights to the AI-generated character images as described in Section 5.

7. Third-Party Services (X)

The Service relies on X's API and Sign in with X. Your use is also subject to X's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for X's actions, downtime, or changes to their API.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
